From the late 1600's onwards ships that arrived in the
Colonies on the North American Continent often where routed via
Barbados. It is then worth a look if you have early descendents from
the United Kingdom and Ireland and haven't found them on direct routes.
Colonists also migrated from New England to Virginia, for example,
on coastal routes or via the Islands. Trade cargo was the principal
interest of these ships and took passengers as room allowed.
